Welcome to Crabtree Farm Estate. A relaxing getaway within a large farm at 186 Twilight Road. A peaceful and stylish home perfect for big families, friends, couples, or business travelers looking for comfort and convenience in the privacy of your own park-like setting. The property is a private English style country estate with a charming hunting lodge house. All rules and fees are negotiable, we understand each travellers requirements and usage will be different, so please ask us what we can do to make your stay work best for you.
You are usually welcome to by arrangement bring your horses, your dogs, your film crew or your helicopter (as long as none affect other farm animals).
It has hosted many inspiring people, from Sir David Attenborough to well known authors and celebrities, who love the seclusion within a stones throw from convenience. We are in a valley that feels miles from civilization yet once you exit the farm gates at the main road, clevedon township is less than two minutes drive to local cafes, bars, restaurants, other shops and the world famous clevedon polo grounds.
The layout is one master bedroom upstairs (huge, with walk in wardrobe, spacious bathroom with toilet and large shower, and great garden & pond views). The rest is downstairs with an open plan kitchen-dining-lounge & fireplace area, flowing to the tv room (comes with Netflix) and the gardens & large patio & barbeque area. Also flowing off the other side of the dining area is the double bedroom, bathroom with bath, and the grand piano room which can be used for photography, rearranged for dinners and lunches or workshops such as yoga. It is flooded with light and garden views, and an open fire adds ambience and warmth when needed.
The Guest wing (also included with this listing) includes a quiet office with peaceful views & starlink high speed internet, another toilet & shower, a TV & couch area with a loft double bedroom upstairs, and another kitchenette & fourth bedroom (queen bed) with a further loft (single bed) up a ladder staircase.
It can easily host 8 (four couples) across 4 queen beds. The single bed in the loft above one room is ready for an easy 9th child or adult that does not mind a ladder access, and the 10th would be moving a single bed into the study. We can host an 11th and 12th would be only with prior notice by hosting two others in the workers cabin on the property, a short 3 minute walk from the main house. An extra $100pp nightly above 8 is charged.
A guided farm walk and induction so that you can walk the farm, is often available (by prior arrangement) at no extra cost to you. Due to Health and Safety we must stress that you can not walk the farm without prior permission - see picture of welcome note.
High speed Starlink Internet is included throughout the farmhouse for your convenience and connectivity.
For 3 night plus stays we can include a small welcome pack if we hear from you to confirm preferences. This includes some milk (please let us know if soy, oat, almond, or dairy is preferred), herbal teas & english breakfast & earl grey teas, coffee, local potato chips, local chocolate, and biscuits - but please let us know if you have any dietary requirements such as vegan, dairy free, gluten free and we can tailor a welcome gift for you.
The gardens are beautiful with different species flowering year round, and with prior arrangement / permission and briefing we can sometimes allow farm walks. Note it is a working farm and we have a workers cabin which is sometimes rented to workers, or sometimes available to rent to guests also (it is a self contained solar powered tiny home just 5 minutes walk from the main house, it is very basic and can't be seen or heard from the main house though). By negotiation we can arrange for the whole farm to be vacated of people such as for filming.
We do not allow strong spices to be cooked in the main house, maintaining a pleasant, clean air smell in the house for all guests to enjoy. We do have a backup kitchenette in the garage with a single element induction cooktop more suitable for making curry’s and strong smelling food, with an air frier and another microwave and sink. Located here is also a front loader washing machine (detergent provided complimentary) and a drier, and a type 2 EV charger - all of which you are welcome to use free of charge.
The house, gardens, and landscape were set up by one of the owners of the English brand “Crabtree & Evelyn” many years ago and reflect strong English heritage in the beautiful park-like gardens surrounding the house. The backdrop is a farm and small vineyard beyond the gardens on the Main side of the house, and a forest and bird reserve on the smaller “lillypond” side of the house.
The owners are very flexible with arrangements so long as the peace and tranquility is maintained and no parties risking broken glass and rubbish in the gardens are hosted.
The house has good helicopter access (one of the owners is a pilot and can arrange helicopter pickup / drop off) and the farm has capacity to host horses should you need grazing while visiting (we often host international polo players during polo season).
Bedding and layout can be adjusted to a degree, if you need this.
We can recommend local cuisine or catering, cleaners, and childcare assistance should you require.
We have a backup kitchenette in the garage in case you wish to cook foods with strong smells / spices.
Note we also have a workers cabin on the farm which is available separately for hire, about 150m from the house and private from each other. If you need additional capacity (for groups of up to 12), we could accommodate another two people in the cabin if it is not booked, (or if the extra two are for infants in a couple of porta-cots which is common, then there is no need to book the additional cabin. If you book the cabin also, you would have the farm largely to your group.
Firewood is supplied by paying the neighbours son pocket money, he supplies / refills the wood used and sets the fires ready for you to light, for $45 per fire. (Payable cash or direct credit, we can collect on your behalf).
